Job Description
Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) at Camp Lejeune Naval Medical Center has requirement of Registered Art Therapist.


Qualifications:


  • Degree/Education: Bachelor in Ary Therapy Or similar
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Possess current certification as a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) or pending registration from the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB).
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Art Therapist within the last three years.
  • Board Certification: None required.
  • Licensure/Registration: None required.

Schedule:


  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Duties:


  • Provide services within the scope of competencies, applicable duties in the basic contract, and additional responsibilities.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family expressive psychotherapy sessions for inpatient and outpatient clients.
  • Perform expert psychosocial assessments to assist the interdisciplinary treatment team in developing individualized treatment plans and diagnostic clarifications.
  • Facilitate sessions using art and other expressive mechanisms to foster communication, problem solving, and self-esteem enhancement to assist in goal setting.
  • Develop alternative resources to help clients cope with overwhelming life circumstances.
  • Conduct clinical assessments of all clients and assist medical staff in determining clinical diagnoses based on criteria established in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association.
  • Foster a supportive climate to facilitate self-expression and group interaction.
  • Provide an outlet for suppressed feelings, channeling energy and emotional stress into constructive modes of expression and communication.
  • Serve as an art therapy consultant and collaborate with other departments within the medical center when needed.
  • Independently assess patients, assisting the treatment team in determining an optimal multi-disciplinary treatment plan for the individual and therapeutic milieu.
  • Utilize other creative/expressive clinical modalities such as music, poetry, drama, and horticulture to support treatment goals and improve patient outcomes.
  • Exercise appropriate clinical delegation of tasks and duties: Direct and coordinate healthcare team members, patient care, and clinic activities.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program: Conduct necessary medical examinations, document findings, and report as directed.
  • Participate in providing in-service training: Offer training and clinical guidance to clinic staff members, including government employees such as hospital corpsmen and students.
