Franklinton Rising is a Christian Non Profit that seeks to ‘break the cycle of poverty’ through job training and Christian mentoring of young people in  neighborhoods of Columbus. We do several things simultaneously: We teach and train young adults ages 17-24 in life skills and job skills in the construction industry. We preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and walk with our "trainees" who often come from difficult life circumstances. We help our trainee graduates to get hired by great construction companies in Columbus.  We rebuild vacant houses or build new houses on infill lots. We improve and beautify the neighborhoods in which we work and serve. We provide affordable housing and seek to combat gentrification which forces people out of their communities of origin. Job Description

Trainer/Mentor will work locally in Columbus on a construction site to teach, train and supervise youth in safe construction techniques as well as mentor and disciple them in life skills using Christian principles and teachings. 

Responsibilities

Working on site each day with youth ages 16-24 to build housing in Columbus, OH. Responsibilities will include working with tools, ladders, carrying loads and walking on uneven terrain. In this position you will be in charge of a group of young people and responsible for their well being and safety. 

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years working in a construction related field. Must be a committed Christian and member of a local Christian fellowship. Previous experience working with inner city youth a plus. Ability to speak about your faith in a compelling way is a plus.

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Saturdays. Compensation is $15.00 - $20.00/hour.
