Job Description
Perimeter Behavioral of Missouri immediate openings for Transportation. We are seeking individuals who are committed to improving the lives of those with mental health illness.

POSITION SUMMARY:  Transports residents to and from appointments and outings and provides direct care and supervision of residents on the milieu and during activities as requested by supervisor. 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: 
  1. a. Demonstrates the ability to follow directions as given by staff nurse, a nursing supervisor. Adheres to the Mandatory Guidelines for Nursing and Mental Health Technician, and all policies and procedures.
  2. b. Demonstrates the ability to provide care to residents in a manner that considers safety, resident’s rights and comfort, maintains confidentiality, and respects cultural and religious differences
  3. c. Demonstrates the ability to assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of residents. Assist with maintaining appointment and transport logs.  Completes inventory according to guidelines
  4. d. Demonstrates the ability to assist nurses with non-technical nursing functions if qualifies and adhere to infection control policies and procedures.  Obtain and release medical record information according to HIPAA regulation and Perimeter Behavioral of Missouri policy and procedure.  Must be able to explain procedures and events in language (cognitive level), understood by people served.
  5. e. Demonstrates the ability to assist with trips outside the facility, including 12-15 hour out of town trips.
  6. f. Demonstrates the ability to follow the Master Treatment Plan in implementing appropriate interventions.
  7. g. Demonstrates the ability to teach and assist residents in activities of daily living encouraging independent behavior when appropriate. 
  8. h. Maintain Company vehicle odometer and maintenance logs and insure cleanliness and regular maintenance of company vehicles.  Report any safety or maintenance concerns of Company Vehicles to Physical Plant Director/Safety Risk Officer and Director of Nursing immediately. 
  9. i. Demonstrates the ability to participate in staff development and completes all required annual training, i.e. CPR, Handle with Care, fire safety and infection control, etc
  10. j. Demonstrates the ability to participate in performance appraisal at the end of the probationary period, 6 months, and yearly thereafter.
  11. k. Demonstrates the ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by modeling positive behavior and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation and teamwork with co-workers, supervisors, residents, and visitors. 
  12. l. Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the organization’s policies/procedures and code of ethics.
  13. m. Demonstrates the ability to maintain a safe work environment by following safety practices within the center and at and during all transport activities, and reporting any safety concerns/issues to the Physical Plant Director/Safety Risk Officer and Director of Nursing immediately. 
  14. n . Demonstrates the ability to recognize and report suspected abuse and neglect according to policy, procedure, and law.
  15. o. Demonstrates the ability to perform other duties as required by supervisor.
  16. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION:
    1. Ability to write legible, accurately, and concisely.
    2. Successful completion of the training modules on child/adolescent growth and development and the range of treatment provided by the center.
    3. AGE:  At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
    4. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED. (Experience working in a children's services program or in a residential setting is preferred.)
    5. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver’s License.   Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
    6. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy/procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and document resident behavior. Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents or employees of organization.
    7. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    8. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    9. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  The employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of client and staff.
    10. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment for this position is a residential facility setting.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to clients who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or race, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self-destructive behaviors.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, and may be subject to occasional local travel as required by facility needs.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Job hazards encountered include exposure to body fluids, bodily injury, electrical shock, mechanical failure, exposure to toxic chemical, radioactive chemicals, physical/mental stress, and irregular hours.  Patient verbal or physical assault is possible.
    11. MENTAL REQUIREMENT: Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations.  Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic.  Must be flexible and able to complete multi-tasks without overwhelming frustration.
