Training Coordinator - Laboratory Animal Research

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 50/50 Split of working with the animals in the lab and husbandry, and developing trainings and running trainings within the core in an office and lab setting
  • Organizing training classes, ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment needed for training purposes, and setting up for training events
  • Creating and updating SOP’s, training documents, and courses for both online and hands on training.
  • Assisting investigators and veterinarians in method development and implementation of such methods through training within the labs.
  • Provides training and validation of ARC staff regarding the correct performance of their duties and tasks when working with the Animals throughout the different labs.
  • Provides training to investigators and research staff on routine research techniques (i.e. restraint, blood sampling, anesthesia, euthanasia) and/or utilizes and schedules Subject Matter Experts to provide this training.
  • Utilizes and helps to develop electronic methods for documentation of training (Training Tracker), documents all training events and personnel in attendance.
  • Assists ARC management in assuring husbandry operations and veterinary care remains in compliance with ARC SOPs as well as the Association for the

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Animal Science or other Science related field
  • Prior experience working in an Animal Research setting (2+ years)
  • Experience working with Large and/or Small Animals and Husbandry (2+yrs)
  • Prior Experience Teaching/Leading trainings in a professional setting (2+yrs)
  • Comfortable working with technology and online training tools
  • Knowledgeable of federal animal welfare regulations
  • Ability to work with small and large animals
