Construction Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for an experienced accountant with construction industry experience for a growing client in the Columbus, OH area. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of relevant experience along with strong Microsoft Excel skills. This position is Direct hire and will pay between $55K and $75K annually.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for all General Ledger job duties
• Oversee the preparation, submission, and tracking of AIA billing documents in accordance with project milestones.
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely billing based on contract terms and conditions.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of AIA billing software and industry standards to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
• Generate accurate and timely financial reports for construction projects, providing insights into project financial performance.
• Reconcile project costs, revenue, and expenses to ensure financial data integrity.
• Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements for project stakeholders.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets, providing insights into potential financial risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with project teams to create accurate financial forecasts, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Implement and maintain effective cost control measures to monitor and manage project expenditures.
• Analyze cost variances and work with project teams to address and mitigate any financial discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry regulations, and internal financial policies.
• Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory authorities during audits, providing necessary documentation and information.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Construction Accountant with expertise in AIA billing.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices.
• Proficient in AIA billing software and other relevant accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
