Our client in Larned, KS, is looking for SS Disability Benefits Specialist. The SOAR program helps people at risk of homelessness due to mental illness or health issues get Social Security disability benefits.
This SS Disability Benefits Specialist will focus on patients discharged from hospital, ensuring they access these benefits.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, ability to build rapport and analyze and summarize the information which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title:Benefits Specialist
Location: Larned, KS.
Pay Range: $20/hr.

What’s the Job?

  • Identify potential candidates through outreach and referrals.
  • Complete applications for SSI/SSDI benefit and Presumptive Medicaid.
  • Gather medical documentation and write reports to support applications.
  • Accompany clients to appointments and coordinate with medical providers.
  • Track client services provided and offers additional training or assistance.
What’s Needed?
Skills:
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize information.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
Experience:
  • Familiarity with government and social service resources (plus).
  • Experience working with people in crisis and mental health.
  • Teamwork experience.
  • Knowledge of Social Security benefits (SSA Blue Book preferred).
  • Experience with data tracking.
  • Minimum 2 years working with homeless individuals with mental illness OR experience in a state hospital.
  • Ongoing training in mental health, homelessness, etc.
  • Adaptability and ability to handle multiple priorities.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral health or related field
