Machinist

Johnson Service Group (JSG), a nationally recognized recruiting firm, is assisting our key manufacturing client in finding a Machinist for their facility in Ladson, SC. This position is responsible for setting up and operating a Brown & Sharpe Grinder.  Willing to train! Strong mechanical aptitude and skilled in math. 

Training: 1st shift 

Permanent Shift:  2nd shift ($1.00/hr shift differential) 

Responsibilities:

• Set up machines, including tool changes according to instructions, specifications and SOP’s.
• Selects, places and secures tooling in proper machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface using clamps and wrenches.
• Calculates material removal from parts.
• Sets gauges to measure OD, ID, 3pt race, and offset.
• Sets and adjusts necessary controls to regulate machines.
• Follows all plant safety regulations.
• Supports departmental performance goals.
• Must be able to learn and operate multiple machines.

Qualifications:

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Keen attention to detail.
• Ability to sign off paperwork to maintain job accuracy and consistency.
• Ability to work safely and wear PPE.
• Able to perform inspections and take responsibility for quality work.
• Will learn how to use and read measurement gauges.
• Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications.
