Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Thermoforming Set Up Operator is to safely operate and change tooling on assigned thermoforming machines within prescribed time frames in accordance with NPXONE standard operating procedures. This position achieves maximum changeover efficiency with minimal downtime, performs minor maintenance tasks, ensure acceptable product quality and maintains all required documentation.
RESPONSIBILIES/DUTIES: Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Consistent adherence to all plant safety rules and procedures
- Accountable to set up and operate thermoforming machines to maximum efficiency within established SOP’s.
- Works closely with process engineering and recommend improvements to SOP’s and equipment whenever possible.
- Maintains acceptable standards of Quality.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area and ensures that all personal tools are in safe operating condition.
- Comply with all PFS and 5S requirements.
- Assist Department Technician, Thermoforming Operators and Packers in maintaining an efficient operating department, and share troubleshooting knowledge freely.
- Accurately and thoroughly records all necessary data as required. This includes job summary cards, SMED and TPM sheets as well as the set up of related documentation.
- Read, interpret and adhere to all set up instructions.
- Install, align, adjust and/or remove various tooling from the thermoforming machines as directed.
- Performs minor repairs and/or preventative maintenance (TPM) as required.
- Report need machine repairs to the Supervisor and on shift maintenance. Initiate work order requests where necessary.
- Responsible for the safe, orderly storage and handling of all thermoforming tooling.
- Troubleshoot and identify issues as either mechanical or material related.
- Communicate, cooperate and work effectively with other TSO’s on all shifts and with all maintenance, engineering, and production personnel on a daily basis.
- Inspect & safely operate all required powered vehicles to include fork lift and reach trucks.
- Inspect and safely operate overhead chain hoists.
- Safely and accurately use and interpret precision measuring devices; scales, micrometers, dial calipers, etc
- Assists mold prep as needed to ensure the availability of necessary tooling.
- Actively participates in company safety programs to include safety inspections, JSA risk assessments, and safety observations as required.
- Must display a sense of urgency in completing their tasks so that plant and customer priorities are maintained. This includes working additional short notice overtime when required to meet schedule needs.
- Conducts food safety and defense self-inspections and reports on deficiencies.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- Education/Work Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Language Ability: Must have excellent communication skills
- Math Ability: Proficient mathematical skills
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to systematically work through problems, can work with deadlines individually or as part of a team
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite
- Travel Requirements – None
- Other (including certifications and licenses): Willing and able to obtain a forklift license.
Schedule: Train on 1st shift- 7:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday, for approximately 6 months. May be placed on 2nd or 3rd after training.
