IT Director

 

With offices located in both the Upper Peninsula and in Traverse City, Michigan Broadband Services is a local provider of FTTH, internet, video, and telephony services.  We are currently seeking a full-time IT Director.


Responsibilities:


  • Leading and managing the current IT team consisting of 2 network engineers, 1 hosted voice technician, 1 network technician and a central office tech This position will provide guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans for network design and engineering, aligning with the company’s overall objectives.
  • Overseeing the design, development, and implementation of network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting network problems, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Managing IP addressing and system configuration, ensuring the highest level of security and compliance.
  • Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements and delivering effective network solutions.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest trends and developments in network engineering and design and implementing new technologies and methodologies as appropriate.
  • Ensuring all network engineering and design activities adhere to industry standards and regulations.

 

Qualifications:


  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering and design, with a focus on wireless networks.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of IP addressing and system configuration.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve network problems effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of wireless networks, including the design, development, and implementation of wireless network infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective network engineering and design strategies.
  • A commitment to staying up to date with the latest trends and developments in network engineering and design.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Telco, and Office 365.
