Position: 1st Shift Precision Grinder
Shift Hours: 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Thursday (Overtime as needed)
Pay Range: $15.00/hr - $19.00/hr (Depending on Experience)
Type: Temp to Hire
Location: South Bend, IN
Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled Precision Grinder for our 1st shift position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup and operation of various grinding machines, including external, centerless, internal, and surface grinders. This role involves working with metal workpieces such as machine parts, dies, or tools to achieve precise specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate grinding machines based on blueprints or layouts.
- Plan the sequence of operations to ensure efficient and accurate grinding.
- Select appropriate grinding wheel and dress it using a dressing device.
- Secure and position workpieces, choosing feed rates, grinding speeds, and depth of cuts.
- Observe operations, adjusting the position and action of the wheel and workpiece as needed.
- Verify dimensions of ground workpieces for conformance to specifications.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in precision grinding, preferably in a tight tolerance, high precision, CNC machining environment.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
- Reliable transportation and good attendance record.
