Job Summary
The role of a CNC Supervisor is to manage the performance and profitability of the machining department, including direct oversight and coordination of department production activities and requirements. With creativity and confidence in leadership, this position will train, support, and develop a team of multi-skilled Programmers/Machinists to maintain efficiencies while producing quality machined parts. This position will have foresight to identify future needs of the CNC department, as well as of the company, and take action to drive change for continual development and success.

Essential Functions
  • Direct and manage machining activities to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
  • Manage production schedule by assigning work and facilitating department workflow.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and project managers on quoting, production, and project timeframes.
  • Collaborate with intercompany personnel regarding capacity planning, production scheduling, and operating procedures.
  • Identify and address key concerns that may alter or impact quality standards and on-time delivery; provide corrective actions.
  • Interface with customers and vendors as needed to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain departmental budget and expenditures.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance with internal and external maintenance teams.
  • Assist in researching and purchasing raw materials and components necessary for production.
  • Develop and maintain employee training programs and department SOP’s in collaboration with the quality team.
  • Manage personnel and personnel issues within department, evaluate performance and provide corrective action as needed.
  • Assist with recruitment and selection process of new hires.
  • Participate in and lead process improvement projects related to productivity, quality, ergonomics, safety, and cost control.
Technical Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D programming and multi axis machining, including lathe.
  • Advanced knowledge of high tolerance machining and geometric dimensioning
  • Proficient knowledge of quality management systems and continuous improvement activities
  • Proficient knowledge of relationship management skills and conflict resolution

  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills to tactfully collaborate with employees and colleagues.

Education and Experience: 
  • Degree in Machine Tool, Manufacturing Technology or related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ CNC programming and machining experience required.
  • 2+ years of management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with quality systems preferred.
Work Hours:
  • 1st shift work schedule, Monday – Friday.
  • Remote work not available.
