Gate Technican

Summary / Objective

The Gate Operator Technician is responsible for installing and servicing gate operator systems as directed.

Essential Functions

• Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs various and sometimes unfamiliar low voltage electrical systems.
• Installs gate operators and accessories based on manufacturer requirements and industry standards.
• Complies with UL 325.
• Uses various hand tools to install components including, drills, saws, grinders, etc.
• Programs systems on site and remotely.
• Installs conduit runs per drawings.
• Installs electric strikes, card readers, and related devices.
• Installs in-ground loops in both asphalt and concrete.
• Maintains company service vehicle by staying current with regular vehicle maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) and notifies Management of any vehicle issues.
• Maintains orderly stock on service vehicle and stock room.
• Reads manuals and conducts research to become familiar with systems.
• Professionally represents B&T Fencing, Inc. when working with customers and vendors.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to and possibly exceed 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. This position regularly requires long hours.

Travel

This position sometimes requires weekend work, overtime and travel. Employees who work overtime are paid time and a half and employees who travel overnight are granted per diem.

Required Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. 1-2 years of related industry experience.
3. Familiarity with installing and diagnosing basic mechanical systems.
