Job Summary:
Uncommon Hospitality is currently seeking a Bookkeeper to join our growing hospitality management and development company in Portland, Maine on a full-time, salaried basis. The bookkeeper will be responsible for entering financial data in a timely and accurate manner, reconciling bank accounts regularly, closing books monthly, paying vendors, and collaborating with managers at multiple hotels under Uncommon Hospitality's management. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized and have a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles.
Compensation & Benefits:
The Bookkeeper will receive competitive pay of $45,000 per year and will be paid on a biweekly basis.

Responsibilities:
- Perform bookkeeping tasks such as entering financial transactions into the company’s accounting system, reconciling accounts, closing out months, paying vendors, and maintaining financial reports
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendors, and other financial activities
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements
- Pay vendors in a timely manner
- Assist in tax preparation and compliance
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least 4 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally with hotels
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and, ideally, the Uniform System of Accounting for the Lodging Industry (USALI)
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant bookkeeping software programs, ideally in M3 or other hotel-related software
- Ability to work autonomously and juggle multiple tasks
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
