This is a nightshift position and is full time. Position is located at the Crisis Unit of MLIH in Logan, WV.

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for the general well-being of the MLIH consumer including, but not limited to, providing supportive services, performing day-to-day living activities, providing a safe treatment environment, ensuring the consumer’s program plans are implemented and the consumer attends scheduled activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to):

  1. This position will develop or enhance a working knowledge and understanding of the problems of chemical dependency and behaviors of persons affected by this dependency.
  2. Maintain strong professional boundaries with all staff, as well as all current and former consumers.
  3. Monitor consumers during regularly scheduled breaks and smoke times.
  4. Coordinate care with outside facilities in order to arrange transportation and/or provide continuation of care.
  5. Interact positively with consumers and model appropriate socialization and communication skills.
  6. Follow daily schedule for housekeeping and laundry.
  1. Maintain a food handler’s permit and meet all county and state health requirements.
  2. Provide meals and snacks for consumers as needed.
  1. If needed, prepare food in accordance with nutritional and dietary requirements, and within the West Virginia Food Code.
  2. Conduct personal belonging and room searches.
  3. Provide protective oversight for all agency consumers at all times. Responsible for performing visual observation and suicide precaution checks and documents all necessary entries.
  4. Monitor consumer phone contact for inappropriate behavior.
  5. Assist in the consumer admission process, including room preparation and personal and body inventories.
  6. Complete documentation thoroughly, and in a prompt and timely manner.
  7. Monitor exterior grounds for safety hazards, and if any are found, immediately report this to immediate supervisor.
  8. Request all needed supplies, monitor inventory, and complete grocery shopping according to posted menu if needed.
  9. Report and document any unusual events or violations of policy to immediate supervisor.
  10. Represent MLIH in a positive manner including maintaining a positive attitude, performing duties in a manner in accordance with MLIH’s policies and procedures and Code of Ethics, and treat consumers with dignity and respect.
  11. Utilize Personal Protective Equipment and follow guidelines outlined in MLIH Blood-borne Pathogens trainings.
  1. Provide direct care and supervision to consumers in all activities.
  2. Complete reports and other assignments that may be required, as necessary. These reports and assignments include, but are not limited to, keeping a daily restroom log on patients, completing BHT checklist every shift and turning it into the unit manager, completing service activity logs (SALs) at the end of every shift for billing purposes.
  3. Keep the unit clean (sweep floors, take trash out, etc.) every shift.
  4. Answer Crisis Line after office hours and on weekends and holidays if needed.
  5. Perform other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
  6. Enter data electronically into clinical recordkeeping and billing systems and record all events involving consumers and patients of MLIH on a daily basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalency.

This position requires the employee to be certified in CPR and First Aid on a two-year basis.
