Summary

An Installation Lead will oversee all phases of construction inclusive of supervising on-site employees, tracking and recording field changes, ensuring job-site safety, ensuring project requirements and schedules are met, and maintaining quality and control of work. Under the direction of the site Superintendent, an Installation Lead will enforce schedules and work of reporting employees and facilitates personnel management in accordance with company policy. This role requires hands-on work in a construction site environment.

Location: Orlando, FL

Shift/Work Hours: Varies: M-F 7:00am – 3:30pm, M-Th 7:00am – 5:30pm, or T-F 7:00am – 5:30pm

Employment Type: Direct hire; non-exempt


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Directs and supervises a team of employees (up to 10 people on a team). Ensures quality of work performed both aesthetically and functionally meets company and customer standards.
  2. Enforces safety requirements and ensures compliance with all federal, state, client and company safety policies.
  3. Identifies and mitigates risk on project sites.
  4. Facilitates professionalism of crew and work environment. Leads by example, mentors, coaches and develops employees.
  5. Adheres to schedule and project plan for completion of assigned project(s).
  6. Coordinates and assigns the work activities of assigned crew members while maintaining communication with immediate supervisor.
  7. Regularly inspects work for quality, safety and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to the site Superintendent.
  8. Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.


Knowledge and Skill

  • Deadline oriented with ability to achieve installation goals per project schedule.
  • Demonstrated expertise in layout, carpentry, and metalwork by use of typical hand tools, power tools and other industry appropriate applications.
  • Motivator who sparks employee enthusiasm while directly promoting and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Analytical thinker who logically breaks down problems and looks for solutions.
  • Flexible to change, and able to multitask and shift project direction based on customer needs and deadlines.
  • Experienced in a managerial and supervisory role(s).
  • Two years of high school and six to twelve months related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
  • OSHA 10 certified (training will be provided if needed).
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
  • Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of layout techniques, rigging, structural steel, and light equipment operation.

Physical Demands

  • Use hands to handle or feel; stand; walk; climb or balance; stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift 70 lbs. floor to waist; lift 90 lbs. waist to chest; lift 25 lbs. chest to overhead; carry 50 lbs. over a distance of 50 ft.; push a 100 lbs. wheeled cart over a distance of 100 ft.; and drag 50 lbs. over a distance of 100 ft.


Work Environment

  • Exposed to typical noises and smells associated with a construction environment, such as exposure to fumes or airborne particles and production machinery. Noise level is moderate to loud.
