LPN/Telemetry Tech

Under direction, provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process, performs technical nursing functions and upholds the standard of practice of a professional nurse in caring for infant through geriatric patients. The LPN / Telemetry Nurse is responsible to facilitate communication between physicians and caregivers on the unit, in addition to the set-up, monitoring, and reporting of all patients.

* Provides basic nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Utilizes the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.
• Performs nursing functions, applying professional skills.
• Documents and maintains data on patient’s record.
• Maintains a safe environment.
• Applies basic teaching / learning concepts to patient education.
• Provides for life support.
• Acts as a patient advocate.
• Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team.
• Participates in performance improvement.
• Delegates and / or supervises aspects of care to team members and reviews completion.
• Performs related work as required including but not limited to basic clerical / reception duties.
• Facilitates admission, discharge, and transfer of patients to various units and / or other institutions.
• Maintains the chart and all necessary forms and helps to maintain chart availability to physicians by keeping them in proper location.
• Transcribes physician orders.
• Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Conducts herself/himself effectively in stressful situations.
* Approaches situations with distressed patients, families, and visitors in a calm, professional manner.

• Current knowledge of clinical practice.
• Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients including but not limited to computer order entry, ECG rhythm analysis and interpretation, monitoring cardiac bedside procedures, hemodynamic monitoring, and following emergency protocols.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration, and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care.
• ECG Rhythm Analysis experience preferred (EKG Course Completion or competent by exam).
• One year of LPN experience preferred.
