Salary: $16/hr

The waterfront staff is the first point of contact with visiting boat traffic and represents the face of the waterfront to the entire resort. You will engage with water sports activities participants, the local boating community, mooring guests, and Freedom Boat Club (FBC) members, maintaining a welcoming, helpful, and friendly attitude.  This is a seasonal position running approximately June 1 to August 31.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Teach sailing lessons to resort guests of widely varying levels of experience on the resort’s Rhodes 19 sailboats.
  • Support resort guests sailing solo, assisting with rigging and mooring if necessary.
  • Maintain a friendly, helpful, and encouraging attitude.
  • Assist resort guests with launching, boarding, and docking kayaks, paddleboards, and rowboats.
  • Assist transient yachters with docking and moorings.
  • Work with the waterfront team to ensure that the dock, moorings, sailboats, kayaks, paddleboards, and rowboats are in good working order, safe, clean, and ready for use.
  • Handle any special requests for guests as necessary.
  • Act a liaison between Linekin Bay Resort and the Freedom Boat Club members.
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are being observed.

 


Experience and Skill Requirements:  The following experience and skills are considered essential:

 

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of colleagues and guests.
  • Ability to trouble shoot when equipment problems arise and do minor equipment repairs
  • Ability to lift loads up to 75 lbs.
  • Neat, courteous, and able to meet the public with poise.
  • Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional with demanding guests and in difficult situations.
  • Sailing and powerboat handling experience required.
  • Time management and prioritization skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and anticipate what needs to be done before it becomes necessary.
  • Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.
  • A team player, who is flexible and willing to help support MHG’s goals; ability and willingness to support other departments.
