Temporary Legal Department Assistant

National trade association headquartered in Washington DC seeking a temporary Legal Department Assistant to join its legal department. Successful candidates will have interest and/or experience in the legal operations of a national trade association, including litigation, contract review, and state and federal regulatory work. This role requires an individual to be proactive and highly responsive, as well as good communication skills.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Conduct research assigned by the General Counsel or other staff attorneys
• Assist with planning and organization of upcoming Legal Conference
• Prepare memoranda on assigned issues for Legal Department Staff
• Review and summarize state and federal legislation/regulation to assess the potential impact on the beauty industry
• Respond to inquiries from member companies on various issues, as appropriate
• Attend committee meetings and meetings with allied trade associations as appropriate to gather and disseminate information on assigned projects
• Assist the legal team in ensuring that all administrative support needs of the Department are met
• Other duties as assigned
