ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of the CBCF Finance Supervisor, the Finance Specialist monitors facility compliance with finance laws, grant guidelines, county accounting procedures, and facility policies, procedures, and standards. This position provides proper accounting processes for the CBCF financial accounts. This position opens and closes out purchase orders, processes vouchers to pay vendors, posts to accounts and maintains record of all expenditures, monitors purchase order and expenditure balances, balances expenditures/appropriations monthly, and makes pay-ins to the County Auditor’s Office. The Finance Specialist ensures efficient organization of the recording and filing of financial transactions. Maintains appropriate hard copy and computer-based files to ensure quick retrieval of documents, when necessary. This position assists the Resident Account Specialist, as needed, in the collection and disbursement of residential funds, collection of commission from service providers, and ordering and receipt of commissary items. This position provides support to the programmatic purpose of the facility and assists in meeting the needs of the residents.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, stooping, and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to transfer up to fifty (50) pounds.  Visual ability sufficient to operate equipment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to type 40 words per minute and have proficient computer skills. Required: associate degree in accounting or related field. Preferred: bachelor’s degree in finance or related field. Two years of financial accounting or accounts payable experience. Good interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Proficient in the use of computer applications including Word, Excel, QuickBooks, etc. Ability to quickly learn other cloud-based financial software applications. Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment within a team approach. Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and have a good driving record.
