Job Summary
The LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois (LGBTCC) is a not-for-profit, membership organization that helps promote the businesses and interests of our members. Through this internship, our goal is to provide a well-rounded, educational program that will offer students the opportunity to learn about the LGBTQ+ business community, grow their network of references and contacts, learn more about social media and digital marketing, give them hands on experience assisting to produce association events and marketing campaigns. This is a temporary, part-time, unpaid internship for 10 - 15 hours per week based on your schedule and the internship typically lasts 12 weeks or more. As this is a remote work opportunity, the student should have access to the internet, a computer, and a cell phone.
High level goals:
- Interns will participate in meetings and events as well as marketing/communication initiatives, which will allow them to network within the community at large, creating future opportunities for their career.
- Interns will learn from and work alongside staff in a collaborative environment in order to accomplish their goals and objectives.
- Managers will conduct several Progress Meetings, which will enable both the manager as well as the intern with opportunities to provide constructive feedback regarding their experience.
Responsibilities
- Assists the events team with on event logistics like load-in and check-in, and help manage registration from start to finish.
- Contact LGBTCC members by phone or email for various projects
- Assist the Director with member outreach to re-engage and verify every member is getting our communications
- Assist our Marketing Manager with planning and scheduling social media engagement where applicable. Platforms include LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Works cooperatively and positively with all Chamber staff members and volunteers to promote an environment of excellence and teamwork
- Perform administrative duties within database or to support operations
- Other tasks as requested
Relationships/Accountabilities
- Accountable to LGBTCC leadership by ensuring all tasks and duties are completed by specified deadlines and are accurate
- Exhibits a total commitment to maintaining high quality service standards of the Chamber; fostering a welcoming enviorment, demonstrates service excellence skills in dealing proactively with members, visitors, and all Chamber contacts
- Works cooperatively and positively with all Chamber staff members and volunteers; promotes an environment of excellence, teamwork, respect and dignity
