This position involves the hands-on assembly and operation of world class testing platforms that directly support the U.S. Nuclear Navy. What we do: Provide shock and vibration test services for U.S. Nuclear Navy components in support of R&D, engineering design, pre-production, quality control, and fleet support projects per standard military specifications (MIL-DTL-901E Requirements for Shock Tests H.I. Shipboard Machinery, Equipment, and Systems, and MIL-STD-167 Mechanical Vibrations of Shipboard Equipment). As a successful candidate, you will: • Work as a team with peers, engineers, contractors and management to perform vibration and shock testing for component development, qualification, and acceptance campaigns. • Operate, maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair complex computer-controlled servo-hydraulic and electro-mechanical test systems. • Construct, install, maintain, repair, calibrate, and troubleshoot electrical test equipment, and process control/data acquisition hardware. • Construct, Install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot mechanical test equipment. • Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation such as strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure gauges, and flow meters • Monitor data acquisition during routine facility operation, interpret instrument readings, and determine instrument validity both from calibration and operating conditions. • Verify and assure that facility operation is in accordance with documented test plans, test procedures, and facility operating procedure. • Qualify as an operator on all laboratory test platforms. • Participate in test set-ups, crane operation, conduct lifting operations. • Become familiar with controller software set-up and operation. • Utilize standard tools such as drill motors, soldering, calipers, grinder, and multimeters with no direction. • Complete basic machining operations on test materials and fixtures. • Maintain good housekeeping, safety practices and quality control. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience; orAssociate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; orJourneyman's papers in a related field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; orBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Preferred Skills Dual Electrical and Mechanical certification preferred. Works independently with limited supervision. Willingness to work overtime or weekends to support critical mission milestones. Experience operating and maintaining servo-hydraulic and electro-mechanical test systems. Experience with PLCs, control systems, labview or matlab a plus. Experience with Crane operation and rigging. Previous MIL-DTL-901E and/or MIL-STD-167 testing experience.
