Shipping Clerk

Job Purpose: Perform all functions needed in order to ship and invoice finished goods on time and in full to our customers

Job Duties:

• Create and book shipments after deliveries have fully picked
• Identify opportunities to combine deliveries in a single shipment to reduce freight cost
• Ensure that we are using the most cost-efficient LTL carrier for all deliveries except for when customers require a specific carrier
• Negotiate truck load rates with brokers in order to get us the best rate with the best level of service
• Dispatch LTL trailers to get swapped as fast as possible in order to continue loading
• Schedule live loads in advanced based on when the Manager expects the delivery to be complete
• Communicate with manager throughout the day if you experience any challenges with scheduling or trailer swaps
• Prepare load docs, packing list and shipping labels for the loaders as needed
• Generate BOL’s for all shipments and file our copies once shipment has picked up
• Ensure shipment is invoiced (shipment confirmed) once fully loaded
• Track status of daily shipment goal and report performance at the end of shift
• Perform dock check at the beginning of shift and several times throughout shift in order to keep track of LTL trailers and capacity
• Always communicate throughout the day with the Leads, supervisors and the DC manager in order to ensure everyone is doing what is needed to reach our shipping goals
• Performs other general warehouse duties as needed

Skills and Qualifications:

• Previous Experience Working in a Warehouse Preferred
• Experience Working With computers
• Able to work in a team environment and work close with other office and warehouse staff
• Ability to sit for long periods but help out on the dock when needed
• Self-Motivated; Active; Safety Conscious
• Ability to Work in a Fast Paced, Busy Environment
