OVERVIEW:

As the Director of Sales, you are responsible for coordinating and participating in the direct sales effort in the group, corporate and travel market. You will work with other Sales leaders to establish group sales goals, forecast group revenues, budget and management of the Sales office. To ensure the team's overall success, you will oversee the attainment of budgeted goals and coordinate direct sales activities such as road shows, blitz's, group promotions, etc. You will also attend necessary industry and client related functions in order to keep current on industry trends and to maintain close client contact. To keep everyone in the loop, you will attend regular Executive and Owner meetings and share any relevant information. Consistency and confidentiality are both key when it comes to this role, so you will need to display an effective approach to problems with high regard for detail and accuracy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend weekly Executive Committee and/or Department Head meetings. Relay information about upcoming events to subordinate staff. Relay company policy and procedures to subordinate staff.
  • Direct all facets of the group sales effort to meet or exceed budgeted revenue and department profits.
  • Develop and implement the annual group marketing plan, monitoring all programs for measurement against desired results.
  • Develop and manage annual group marketing budget to achieve revenue.
  • Create a marketing strategy toward the most lucrative market segment in the marketplace.
  • Work in tandem with the Rooms Director to establish pricing and yield management execution to maximize rate and occupancy with varying supply and demand conditions.
  • Work with the Director of Finance and Rooms Director in all related forecasting of revenue outlooks.
  • Establish group sales goal, forecasting group room nights and group room revenues; budgeting and management of the group sales effort.
  • Direct the sales and administrative effort on a day-to-day basis in accordance with objectives outlined in the Marketing Plan.
  • Assist with coaching, training, motivating and counseling of all Sales Managers and sales staff.
  • Stay in tune with industry trends and make recommendations of changes.
  • Coordinate direct sales activities including road shows, blitzes, group promotions and fam trips.
  • Set-up and conduct site inspections for entire property.
  • Prepare all monthly reports for company and owners on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Assist all department heads in establishing quality product standards and service levels that establish the property as leader amongst competitors.
  • Help create, implement and monitor, along with the Marketing Manager, the advertising and public relations strategy toward key target markets to achieve revenue objectives.
  • Gain understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to, and during the program/event.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Comply with quality assurance standards.
  • Follow company and department policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; wear nametag; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
  • Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
  • Have access to reliable transportation and follow attendance policy

ADDITIONAL POSITION DUTIES:

  • Respond to any reasonable task assigned by the General Manager.
  • Notify Loss Prevention/Security of any reports of theft.
  • All other duties as assigned.

OTHER:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled mandatory training sessions and meetings is required.

Employees who violate company rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
