Job Description
The Quality Engineer is responsible for training of personnel, creating and maintaining work instructions and time studies, and serving as customer liaison on assigned jobs. The Quality Engineer is also responsible for remaining up to date on the policies and procedures of OEM and Tier I Supplier containment activity. The Quality Engineer may also serve as a project manager for customers who request and require detailed engineering and consulting expertise.
The preferred candidate for this position will have experience with injection molding and sonic weld experience. A mechanical engineering background is helpful. Automotive experience is desired.
Overtime will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for participating in design and development projects and assuring the design process meets all requirements
Responsible for reviewing design drawings for tolerance, inspect-ability and quality of design issues
Work with suppliers to improve quality and assist, where necessary, in supplier process validations
Participate in Internal and External quality audits as directed.
Responsible for root cause analysis of parts.
Responsible for assisting in complaint investigations as related to product quality
The Quality Engineer is responsible for quality control, efficiency and cost effectiveness for assigned inspections and/or containment activities.
The Quality Engineer is required to have knowledge and understanding of manufacturing quality or production, PPAP, FMEA, PSO and SPC experience, print reading ability, gauge or metrology experience and strong management skills. Root Cause analysis experience is required.
The Quality Engineer is required to read and understand technical and non-technical documents as they relate to quality functions within the business. This includes the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel.
