Cardiac and Vascular Consults of Northern Michigan is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider.

Schedule: Monday to Friday working dayshift hours. No holidays, call or weekends.


Position Summary:

CVCNM operates a network of highly specialized outpatient endovascular care facilities. All CVCNM employees are members of the same team, regardless of their primary work location. Under supervision of a Board-Certified Physician, the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. The PA/NP will perform patient histories and physical examinations. Initiates, documents and communicates the plan of care. Orders and interprets for laboratory work and diagnostic tests. Interprets laboratory and test results. Upon discharge, notes discharge summaries, prescriptions and any referrals in patient’s electronic medical record. PA/NP educates patients, family, and caregivers on pre-op and provides post-operative instructions. Adheres to all policies related to PHI and HIPAA privacy practices.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program: Required
  • Nurse Practitioner: Current license as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Michigan Board of Nursing: Required
  • Physician Assistant: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Michigan: Required
  • Nurse Practitioner: Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body: Required
  • Physician Assistant: Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certifying of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or equivalent body: Required
  • Three to five years of vascular experience: Preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR): Required within 90 days of hire
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Required within 180 days of hire
  • Persistent, thorough and exact

Specific Duties:

  • Responsible for outpatient evaluation and treatment of cardiac and vascular patients
  • Maintain orderly, efficient, and timely flow of patients
  • Completes hospital inpatient rounding, admissions, consults, and discharging of cardiovascular patients
  • Screen patients for appropriate clinical information, accurately document vitals, condition, medications, and other relevant medical information using EMR system
  • Provide instruction to patients and family regarding medications and treatment
  • Assess patient/family level of understanding to enhance effective communication and education
  • Instruct patients in collection of samples and inform them of diagnostic tests/procedures
  • Provide post-procedure instructions to patient, family, and/or caregiver prior to discharge
  • Provide compassionate, professional patient care and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Respond to incoming telephone calls from patients, families, referring offices, hospitals, etc.
  • Assist healthcare providers with various endovascular procedures
  • Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures
  • Administers and orders diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work, and interprets test results
  • Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment
  • Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients, and records progress
  • Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and ACV policies
  • Assists physician with emergency treatments and more complex procedures
  • Provide continuity of care while communicating with all team members
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership and supervisory staff
