Starting Rate of Pay: $26.5306/hr + DOE
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Job Summary: The Medical Records Lead will perform all the duties of a Medical Records Clerk and will facilitate the training for new Medical Records clerks. They will assist with managing inbox work for providers. They will also assist with drafting workflows and procedures as requested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Help orient team members to medical records workflows and provide support and back up to other team members as needed.

· Assist the Senior Manager, Customer Care in creating and updating workflows.

· Attend team meetings.

· Assist with process improvement efforts.

· Attach to provider in boxes in Epic and look for duplicate documents, eliminating extra work for providers.

· Assist leaders with maintaining, updating, and suggesting workflow changes and procedures as needed.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Handle protected health information in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

HIPAA Requirements:

The Medical Records Lead will have access to PHI in the course of their duties. The Medical Records Lead will use PHI to ensure patient records are up to date and available following all medical records release policies and procedures. They will handle PHI for disclosures to outside entities. The minimum data sets to which the Medical Records Lead needs access are the practice management and ambulatory sections of the electronic health record, reports from the electronic health record, and reports and correspondence coming into the department. They also access the Release of Information module and review and create telephone encounters.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

· Bilingual/bicultural proficiency (Spanish/English spoken and written) preferred.

· Demonstrated excellent Customer Service skill.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· High degree of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism.

· Knowledge of medical terminology or ability to learn.

· Ability to read and interpret medical records and technical documents, or ability to learn.

· Good organizational and time management skills.

· Ability to manage competing priorities within the department.

· Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel.

Education and Experience:

· High School diploma or equivalent and five years prior experience in a healthcare or social service setting required. Additional education may substitute for years of experience.

· Prior Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
