Lead Synthetic Data Scientist

Leveraging its success in integrating AI and ML into its platform, CivicScience seeks a Lead Data Scientist to pioneer R&D in synthetic data. This role suits a data-savvy professional capable of recognizing and exploiting the commercial possibilities of emerging technologies, while being comfortable engaging with customers and stakeholders.

Data Entrepreneurs Wanted

The ideal candidate should have experience in creating and evaluating synthetic data using statistical, deep learning, generative AI, and agent-model techniques. Background in market research, consumer data, or data consulting is beneficial.

The role involves being a player/coach for a growing data science team, enhancing product development with machine learning and advanced statistical analysis. Proficiency in Python and SQL, along with familiarity with open-source and cloud-based ML and data services, is required.

Primary Responsibilities

• Leading CivicScience's synthetic data initiatives, overseeing research, strategy, and collaboration with product and engineering teams to develop new products.
• Managing and mentoring the data science team to support company growth.
• Developing production-level code and contributing to new data products that meet market research and internal analytics needs.
• Spearheading the use of supervised and unsupervised ML in CivicScience's platforms.
• Identifying new business opportunities and leveraging data for value creation.
• Collaborating with product and engineering to streamline data pipelines and workflows.
• Standardizing data science methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in a technical field with 8-10 years of experience, or PhD with 5+ years, specializing in data science and machine learning for product development.
• 2+ years of experience in developing synthetic data processes with ML (generative AI experience, preferred).
• 2+ years of managerial experience, leading high-performance technical teams.
• Familiarity with market research, consumer data, and data consulting is a plus.
• Proven customer interaction skills, including presentations and support for commercial teams.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; adept at learning new technologies.
• Experience with big data technologies like Apache Spark or Flink.
• Skilled in data manipulation and exploration of large datasets.
• Innovative thinker with a track record of technology-driven problem-solving.
• Experience in collaborating with engineering to develop tools supporting data science.
• Expert in statistical methods and experimental design.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to engage with senior management.
• Positive and proactive attitude, capable of finding creative solutions to overcome challenges.

This is a remote (work-from-home) position, reporting to a senior-level executive based in New York City. Compensation will include base salary + bonus, which may vary based on knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, and experience, and be guided by fair and equitable employment decisions for qualified candidates.
