Overall Objectives of Position
The Receptionist is responsible for maintaining and operating the Tribal Health Facility’s lobby area. Greets and directs all visitors/patients and promptly operates the telephone system. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Receptionist is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable program. The Receptionist is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.

Primary Responsibilities of the Receptionist
  • Answers and forwards phone calls to appropriate individuals and departments disseminating information as needed.
  • Greets and assists/directs all visitors/patients in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Provides general administrative and clerical support.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Provide wheelchair assistance to any patient that presents as a fall risk, both upon entering and exiting the building.
  • Makes overhead announcements via the telephone system when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned appropriate person.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
  • Oversees maintenance of the lobby and entire Atrium area, keeping it clean and organized.
  • Responds to inquiries from patients, prospective patients, and visitors in a courteous manner.
  • Protects patient confidentiality by making sure Protected Health Information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight.
  • Locks the front door at the end of each day.
  • Keeps abreast of all safety and emergency procedures.
  • Responsible for incoming and outgoing mail and delivery packages for the Health Department, sorting in-house mail pieces accordingly.
Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills Required
  • Absolute confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations and the Privacy Act.
  • Must be people oriented and relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated excellent hospitality and customer service skills.
  • Good personal appearance and friendly nature.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Microsoft Office software and etc.
  • Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Adept at multi-tasking, have unquestionable integrity, with an uncompromising commitment to quality.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed; flexible in regards to accommodating emergency visits as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development and other events.
  • Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
