Social Media and Marketing Manager (Columbus, OH)

At Fugees Family, we’re on a mission to advance educational justice for refugee students and English Language Learners. Our school model addresses a pressing need not currently met by traditional public education systems – the education of newcomer (refugee and immigrant) students in an environment where their unique identities and needs are welcomed and understood. 

Fugees is out to radically change the way education is experienced for all newcomers in this country, and we’re just getting started. We’re a team of advocates, change-makers and allies and are looking for another passionate addition to join our close-knit team.

 

The Position: 

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our Advancement Team as a Social Media and Marketing Manager. Reporting to the Communications Director, the ideal candidate will be passionate about our mission, possess a deep understanding of social media platforms, and have experience developing and executing effective marketing strategies. In addition to supporting communications efforts, the Social Media and Marketing Manager will play a crucial role in fundraising by reaching new donors and increasing donations.

 

Responsibilities:

 

1. Social Media Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive organic and paid social media strategy to increase brand visibility, boost engagement, and drive fundraising initiatives.
  • Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video, written) across various platforms, ensuring alignment with program priorities and fundraising goals.
 

2. Content Creation:

  • Work with the Communications Director to produce high-quality, engaging content that resonates with our target audiences, including new and existing donors..
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
 

3. Community Engagement:

  • Build and nurture relationships with our online community, fostering a sense of connection and investment in Fugees Family’s mission.
  • Leverage social media to promote donation drives and engage with potential donors.
 

4. Marketing Campaigns:

  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns that not only raise awareness but also drive donations.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director to ensure consistency in messaging across all channels.
 

5. Fundraising Initiatives:

  • Actively contribute to the development and execution of fundraising strategies to attract new donors and increase donation amounts.
  • Use social media as a tool to amplify the impact of donor contributions and showcase the tangible outcomes of their support.
 

6. Analytics and Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze social media and marketing performance related to fundraising, providing regular reports and insights.
  • Use data to refine strategies, optimize campaigns, and identify new opportunities for donor engagement.
 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

 
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a social media, marketing, or communications environment 
  • Proven experience managing social media accounts and executing successful marketing campaigns with a focus on fundraising.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting
  • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Passion for social impact and a commitment to the mission of Fugees Family.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent project management skills with exceptional attention to detail and discipline to organize, prioritize, and complete projects expeditiously, proactively, and often with short deadlines
  • Independent, innovative, and motivated by equity-centered results 
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a high-paced and dynamic environment
  • Commitment to learning and growing from feedback
  • Diplomacy and sensitivity to different cultural situations
  • Collaborative, asset-based approach when interacting with colleagues and the community
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States required 
 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • In-depth knowledge of current digital trends
  • Proficiency in photo and video editing and design softwares (e.g. Canva, Indesign, Photoshop)
  • Experience with SEO and SEM strategy and keyword research
  • Understanding of website analytics tools, such as Google Analytics
  • Familiarity with education or immigration-focused non-profit communications
  • Analytical mind, with a passion for measuring data

Salary range: $45,000-$50,000 BOE
