Press Brake Operator for 1st and 2nd Shift, located at our Centralia, IL Facility.

What You Will Do

Press Brake Operators are responsible for the daily setup and operation of hydraulic CNC controlled press brake. Position may be required to assist other operators as a helper on key work or machines or welding as required. This is a cross functional position within the Fabrication Department. This role included band saw operation.

Essential Functions:

  1. Set up and operate a hydraulic Press Brake for fast paced work.
  2. Set up and operate band saw.
  3. Select correct tooling for the job task with setup documents or supervisor/lead assistance.
  4. Load, install and correctly set up the tools required with some assistance from supervisor.
  5. Understand layout and plans sequence of operations to maximize efficiency of production in terms of time, quality, quantity, resources, and overall costs.
  6. Review, analyze and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout
  7. Use overhead crane, forklift, and hoists, to assist in moving materials/projects
  8. May operate, grinders, cutting torch, drills, misc. hand tools
  9. Properly care for and maintain tools in good operating condition; ensure tools and equipment is properly stored at the end of each shift.

Production

  1. Keep work area, including machine surfaces clean and organized at all times.
  2. Prepare and run complex bend set ups and forming operations.
  3. Complex programming using all features of the Press Brake, such as but not limited to bending at angles, step bends, proper back gauge transfer between steps and delays.
  4. Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations.
  5. Account for time and work completed via ERP system.
  6. Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and completed work.
  7. Make routine decisions and use problem solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues or seek assistance.
  8. Report and document basic material, production and quality control issues.
  9. Report deficiencies to the maintenance supervisor.
  10. Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level.
  11. Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes
  12. Understand various weld form symbols on blueprints and drawings.

  1. Maintains regular and consistent job attendance, comes to work on time.

  4. Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High School/GED required plus one to one year Press Brake experience in shop/manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education related experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand mechanical drawings and specification charts and make direct application to project machine set up and final product.
  • Must be able to read and know appropriate welding symbols and apply to fabrication process.
  • Must be able to write NCR's and comply with safety rules.
  • Ability to calculate and measure distances, heights, tolerances, & square.
  • Must be able to accurately follow plan specifications and fabricate product to match such.
  • Ability to analyze and understand project design, bending documents and specifications and successfully resolve practical problems and they may occur.
  • Must be able to program, set up CNC Press Brake controls and operational information.
  • Must comply with and follow all IE safety programs, policies and procedures.
