SIS Coordinator
 POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide support to schools and internal departments for the overall collection and maintenance of data for the Student Information System in support of effective instructional practices, communications, and operation efficiency of Student Information...

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

SIS MANAGEMENT:

  • Management of student information system and other PowerSchool products, audits of data fields, and training of instructional staff or data managers
  • Act as the main contact person for all PowerSchool-related customer support to any stakeholder (PowerSchool, and all staff)
  • Performs annual setup/configuration, which includes but is not limited to the calendar, scheduling, attendance, grades, photo imports, summer school, report cards, honor roll calculations, and related items
  • Serves as a liaison between the schools and the Network office in regard to student information data collection through the creation and ongoing effective work of the school-based team; school sites and departments across the Network to verify SIS requirements and for protocols to be met; communicates regularly with schools through Kairos communication tools. 
  • Implements and maintains an SIS-acceptable use policy for data entry at the school level.
  • Completes the development and maintenance of necessary support and training materials for the school Network; responds to any training needs identified by the schools.
  • Gathers feedback from school sites on the SIS to determine which components could be modified or added from the Network to meet school data needs.
  • Supports deployment of SIS enhancements to schools (product upgrades, security changes, file definition, and table changes).
  • Applies appropriate changes to resolve errors.
  • Required to attend scheduled shifts during regular business hours as mandated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the DOO/COO.

SIS/APP INTEGRATION & MANAGEMENT:

  • Organizes and prepares system software documentation, procedures, and operational instructions to use in training and to promote efficient utilization of system software
  • Includes Network configuration of instructional standards within the SIS application
  • Respond to requests for data and prepare reports; ensure data quality standards are met in all areas
  • Assist with efforts with other divisions/departments to integrate the SIS with other applications and initiatives.
  • Maintain SIS-educational app connections (Deanslist, Clever, Gradient, Canvas)
  • Provide Ed Tech app support to stakeholders (staff, teachers) by responding to help tickets
  • Helps with the understanding of data fields
  • PowerSchool training, support, documentation, and auditing of information
  • Performs routine file management tasks including transferring, loading, archiving, and converting data for purposes of managing and securing student information
  • Assist in the analysis of data, application, and system hardware errors to determine root causes.
  • Installation of plug-ins or patches to enhance the use of the SIS application
  • Support Network staff with the following PowerSchool products:
    • Application
    • Registration
    • Re-Enrollment
  • Any other products
  • Other Duties as assigned by DOO/COO

MOSIS & DESE DATA MANAGER:

  • Facilitate timely and accurate data collection for assigned schools for State and Federal reporting procedures; participate in local & state SIS user groups and attend conferences and/or classes to stay current on products and developments of the support and assistance to assigned schools with data collection necessary for student information reporting.
  • Support Kairos Tiered Monitoring Data Submissions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Develop & deliver SIS training for teachers and administrators
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline SIS-related data processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and manage SIS integrations
  • Collaborate closely with school leadership and the HR Team to ensure all staff are correctly onboarded into the appropriate SIS environment
  • Attend any systems training, workshops, and networking events as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, students, and parents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability and competence in Microsoft Office applications and ability to use a variety of computer applications and platforms. Ability to use basic office equipment. Also knowledge and experience in using a computer-based student Information Management system.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Excellent organizational, planning and implementation skills. Always think multiple steps ahead.
  • Ability and proven track record for overseeing data collection, validation and reporting
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and multiple priorities inherent in fast-paced work environments
  • Ability to establish relationships and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an K-12 setting.
  • Strong expertise in data collection, cleaning, preprocessing, and wrangling is a requirement.
  • Proficiency in visualization tools and packages; and in communicating data topics to non-technical audiences is a requirement.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Experience with integrating/interfacing between different information systems
  •  A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
 

Preferred skills and qualifications include:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Data, Computer Science, or a related field
  • PowerSchool Certification or InfiniteCampus Administrator
  • Understanding of school, Network, state, and federal reporting requirements for K-12 and charter schools
  • Experience with SFTP, ODBC, or API connections to SIS systems
  • Experience with managing and entering data with at least 95% accuracy; familiarity with data management systems (PowerSchool, SchoolMint, Clever, REMIND, Deanslist) 
  • Experience working in nonprofit or education sectors with educationally underserved students
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Proficiency in Sql (MySQL, Oracle SQL Database
  • Relevant experience in any environment requiring government/funder compliance reporting a plus
  • 3 or more years of experience in a similar role
  • 3 or more years of experience working as a school-based staff member

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Satisfactory criminal records check, pre-hire and annually thereafter, if applicable. Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization.

  • In-person teaching Monday through Friday 7:30am 4:00pm

Saint Louis, MO 63118: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required). Please note, this is not a remote position. All Kairos teachers are required to deliver in-person instruction onsite, in our school in St. Louis.
