This team is a 24x7 third tier Support group that works between IT, third party entities and the transmission and distribution substation departments.

 

Position Summary

  • The purpose of this position is to develop a comprehensive standard criterion and provide expert level guidance for the successful implementation of FAN (Field Area Network) along with 220Mhz Narrowband radio system.  This consists of field design, field deployment, and testing of field devices utilizing test RTU’s and applicable testing software.  Strong troubleshooting and testing skills will be required.
  • Works closely with other IT and Business groups and third-party vendors to ensure systems are deployed and maintained in an efficient manner.  Communicates all issues, changes, outages, maintenance, etc. in accordance with established policies and procedures. Provides support in analyzing, diagnosing problems from statistical data and reports. Reports out on various leadership updates.
  • Utilize appropriate RF tools (Spectrum Analyzer, etc.) and approved RF software to conduct RF interference mitigation along with detecting and mitigating noise floor interference.  Be able to work with all antenna technologies to build out successful signal propagation.
  • Create and oversee training class curriculum, via field and classroom training. This position will support the needs of the OTS supervisor and other OTS specialist in their daily roles with procedures documentation and standards. This position will include 24x7 call-out support, and occasional system-wide travel to support installation, O&M work, and systems acceptance. All employees are responsible for performing their jobs in accordance with PG&E’s vision and values.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $128,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $218,000.00

 

OR

 

California Minimum: $122,000.00
California Maximum: $207,000.00

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs product management duties over a sector of technology products or services or assigned to high profile products or services.
  • Oversee and manage the continuous product lifecycle from research, planning and implementation to retirement.
  • Introduce new innovative solutions that enhance the existing capabilities of the product(s) or service(s). Develop methods of automation and optimization.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad scope and high complexity.
  • Be a technical leader. Mentors and develops internal training programs on the targeted product(s) or service(s).
  • Work with projects to determine the best use of existing technology capacity for resource allocation.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to determine and understand future technology capacity. Analyze areas of opportunities to optimize costs of IT products or services.
  • Engage with the product’s vendor to manage the process to request additional units including working with projects needing new product contracts and licenses.
  • Perform contract management and be responsible for understanding and complying with the product’s existing maintenance contracts and/or licenses.
  • Work closely with IT professionals to troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues.
  • Drive conventions and standards (such as usage or configuration) across multiple products to maximize user experience.
  • Be a third-tier support specialist to other IT professionals for escalated operational issues.
  • Participate in business, technical, and contract negotiations with vendors.
  • Act as a conduit for vendor relationship, licensing, and incident management.
  • An advocate for business unit and IT operational clients to ensure business requirements are cost effective and needs are met.
  • Provide budget support to IT professionals and stakeholders.
  • Contributes to a variety of documentation such as strategies, plans, designs, usage or configuration standards, policies, guidelines, user requirements, roadmaps, reports, metrics, process manuals, configuration manuals, and other documentation specific and necessary for the targeted product or service.
  • Produce technical business plans for the assigned department and technical area.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 3 years
  • Experience in IT-Information Technology products, operational processes or utility industry, 8 years.

 

Desired:

 

  • Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Job-related technical experience, 10 years
  • Utility industry experience, regulated.
  • CCNA-Cisco Certified Network Associate certification
