Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and qualified School Nurse to join our team in Winona, MN. This position offers full-time hours, Monday through Friday, and may be flexible to accommodate part-time schedules if needed. The ideal candidate will possess a PELSB School Nurse Licensure.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care and health services to students and staff in accordance with professional nursing standards, state regulations, and school policies.
• Conduct health assessments and screenings, including vision, hearing, and immunization assessments, to identify and address health concerns and promote wellness among students.
• Develop and implement individualized health care plans (IHCPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs) for students with chronic health conditions or special medical needs, in collaboration with parents, healthcare providers, and school staff.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with school policies and procedures.
• Monitor and manage communicable diseases and outbreaks within the school community, including reporting and documentation requirements as mandated by state and local health departments.
• Provide health education and counseling to students, families, and staff on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, safety, and disease prevention.
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to create and maintain a safe and healthy school environment, including emergency preparedness planning and response.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students, including immunization records, health assessments, and treatment documentation, in compliance with state and federal privacy laws.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams, committees, and professional development activities to support the ongoing improvement of school health services and programs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Minnesota.
• PELSB School Nurse Licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• Previous experience working in a school or pediatric healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of pediatric nursing principles, health promotion strategies, and public health practices.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergent health situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, school staff, and community partners.
• Commitment to promoting a culture of health, safety, and wellness within the school community.
