Position Summary

Our Continuous Improvement Manager is a highly regarded position within our company. It reports to our Chief Operating Officer and is relied upon to make our manufacturing plants as efficient and effective as they can be. This role plans, directs and manages our company-wide lean enterprise activities to support the fabrication of high-quality steel bridges and structures. As such, this role will be highly integrated in our efforts to arrange, optimize, and supervise our scheduling and manufacturing processes. Our Continuous Improvement Manager needs to be an analytical thinker that can communicate our lean leadership vision and strategy in a way that will engage and motivate our employees to be part of it. This role is key to creating and maintaining a strong culture of continuous improvement within our Veritas facilities.

Work Relationships

Reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Works closely with all departments and managers to ensure no gaps exist in the work processes and our technology. May work closely with other facilities to drive best practices throughout the company’s manufacturing footprint.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Developing, evaluating, improving and documenting manufacturing processes
  2. Developing and implementing process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments
  3. Analyzing manufacturing process flows continually to improve volume, quality, cost and throughput
  4. Collaborating with configuration control and design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effective production methods and tools
  5. Conferring with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts, or material purchase
  6. Collaborating with Production Managers to estimate staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions
  7. Working closely with Production Managers to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees to improve our overall business
  8. Designing and developing manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost
  9. Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of tool drawings, design concepts, shop orders, and concepts
  10. Providing engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems
  11. Coordinating work with the Maintenance Supervisor to assigned technicians, and outside vendors to projects
  12. Supporting company policies and procedures, goals and objectives

Educational Background

  • Require 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in heavy steel manufacturing or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a manufacturing related program (supply chain, quality, etc.)
  • Prefer a Master’s degree in a manufacturing-related field
  • Six sigma-related certification – Black Belt, Green Belt, etc.
