Summary

The responsibility of the Gardens Partner is to maintain the beauty of plants, trees, garden trails, and landscaping for all see Rock City, Inc. properties. The Gardens Partner performs a range of technical functions, including assisting and executing the design, production, renewal, and preservation of outside spaces to ensure these meet our standards of excellence. Under the direction of the Gardens Manager, the Gardens Partner is responsible for performing the following duties:


Responsibilities

  • Delivers excellent guest service to internal and external customers in line with the organization's mission, culture, and values.
  • Models appropriate guest and partner interaction at all times.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of plant species and varieties to identify and intentionally control weeds and non-native species throughout the gardens and across all properties.
  • Uses plant knowledge to assist in determining proper growing requirements when planting, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, and providing organics for optimum growth.
  • Develops and utilizes a broad understanding of fertilization including ratios and growth benefits.
  • Works with chemical control of weeds and undesirable or noxious plants. Prepares and mixes chemicals for periodic spraying and application needs. Maintains and employs knowledge of sound safety practices for spraying, cleaning, and storing of chemicals.
  • Collaborates with the Gardens team and leadership in the creation and design of various property improvements and projects.
  • Sets, monitors, operates, and performs minor repairs on irrigation systems.
  • Practices Integrated Pest Management techniques.
  • Employs knowledge of native species and can identify multiple species in the region in order to fulfill ongoing horticultural responsibilities.
  • Implements landscape plans as directed by team leadership.
  • Plants, waters, mulches, trims, and mows on a regular basis.
  • Uses both hand and power tools/equipment to in the maintenance of trees and shrubs across all properties.
  • Provides assistance across various teams and locations for special events, projects, and promotions.
  • Assists in maintaining all gardening equipment and machinery, like mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic math skills required.
  • Prior related experience and practical understanding of native species, basic landscaping concepts, and landscape equipment (mowers, chainsaws, string trimmers, etc.) required.
  • Must possess a current driver's license and good driving record.
  • Possesses ability to learn and demonstrate some technical skills with a variety of tools and equipment including safe handling and operation of a chainsaw, proper use of a zero-turn mower and walk-behind mower, training and use of a skid steer loader and a farm tractor.
  • Has ability to learn and identify some pests and diseases found within the landscape and to communicate with management for proper control.
  • Understands basic functions and use of irrigation timers and how to perform minor irrigation repairs.
  • Possesses an outgoing, friendly personality and the ability to provide excellent guest service.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, operating within the values of the Culture of Excellence at all times.
  • Ability to display a professional, engaging, and polite image to guests and team partners.
  • Ability to listen well and follow directions.
  • Ability to work independently when needed.
  • Ability to provide a flexible schedule to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and balance; Ability to use hands and fingers to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds; Ability to stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Ability to work outdoors on a regular basis, including working in extreme temperatures throughout the year.




Compensation details: 14.95-15 Hourly Wage
