THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will oversee the Department's Training Section within the Division of Program Support and Quality Improvement, leading the education efforts for the Substance Use and Gambling Disorder field, as well as supporting the agency's mission to lead the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's effort to prevent and reduce drug and alcohol and gambling addiction. You will be responsible for directing operations of a full-service workforce, including an education and training program for learners, trainers, and requestors, and oversees the training budget for the Department. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the substance use and gambling disorder treatment and prevention providers, recovery support service providers, stakeholders, Single County Authorities, and other state agencies to identify training needs and ensure the availability of trainings throughout the Commonwealth. Work performed is done with a high degree of independence.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
    • You will be required to report in-office at least one day per month and more often when trainings are held.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 3; or
  • Six years of experience in progressively responsible and varied officer management of staff work in public or private organization, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, and procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
