POSITION TITLE: Lead, Joint Use Specialist

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ADB is seeking a Lead, Joint Use Specialist to coordinate and design joint use pole attachments within the ADB Engineering group. This position is responsible for make-ready work associated with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) projects, including fiber installation assessments, coordination with pole owners, permitting, right-of-way, and related tasks to facilitate FTTH design and construction work. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert of joint use pole attachment standards within the utility construction space, be detail orientated, process driven with a strong work ethic and an ALL-IN attitude to achieve results.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Expert level knowledge and ability to perform joint use engineering functions according to NESC and GO95 rules and standards including but not limited to; coordinating and designing joint use pole attachments and make ready recommendations for cable attachments, spacing, midspans and utility pole owner requirements
* Gathers appropriate information from the field collection process to identify pole owners and complete the necessary application process.
* Review utility poles and field data collection including electrical equipment, pole configurations, and third party attachers to determine most accurate make ready solution
* Ability to create 3-dimensional model of poles in O-Calc and Spida-Calc ensuring power and telecommunication poles have the appropriate and safe attachments
* Perform structural loading calculations in accordance with NESC and pole owner protocol through inventory and analysis of pole type and class, riser details, attached facility type including weight and diameters, span footages, drip loops etc.
* Provide recommendations on performing work via aerial or underground by reviewing original proposals and analyzing the overall cost of the project
* Provide solutions for poles that fail pole loading or aren't eligible for new attachments.
* Ability to create make ready summaries for various pole owner requirements.

* Ability to read and understand construction prints, documents, and make ready summaries.
* Is the Subject Matter Expert within the joint use team, can provide training and support to all Joint Use team members on all tasks and functions within the department
* Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership

* Expert knowledge of various pole loading software (O-Calc, Spida-Calc, or Pole Foreman)


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

* This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, and A/V equipment.
* While on safety sensitive jobsites, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots.
* This position may be exposed to all weather conditions

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

* 2+ years of joint use and/or make ready engineering experience required
* 3+ years of onsite field engineering experience within the utility space required * 2+ years of outside plant permitting experience preferred
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
