Job Description
Composite Approach is a growing composite manufacturer located in beautiful Central Oregon. We are seeking self-motivated technicians with a great attitude who can work both alone and alongside others. Work includes everything from repetitive to very diverse operations.
Training is available for those with no experience who demonstrate an incredible motivation to learn. Individuals applying for this position would benefit from having previous exposure to some or all of the below Skills and Responsibilities.
Skills and Responsibilities:
·Fabricate, assemble and perform composite layup by applying knowledge of working characteristics of bonding techniques by utilizing precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment
· Work from process sheets, or verbal instructions identifying the type and sequence of operations needed to construct a variety of parts used for the production of composite structures to meet contractual requirements
·Prepare tooling/fixturing used for fabrication and coupon testing
·Operate standard equipment to remedy in-process conditions such as excess or insufficient resin, trapped air pockets or delamination
·Set up and operate forming machines and presses, or laminate plastic cloth and resins or pre-impregnated cloth onto layup mold or bonding fixture, to shape parts
·Effectively use vacuum bagging materials, attach fittings to mold or fixture, such as vacuum connections, thermocouples, and probes, and exhaust air from vacuum bag to prepare lamination for curing or bonding
·Cut material to size using shears, knives, cutters, scissors, router, or saw
·Lay out cutting lines on materials, such as sheet stock, fiberglass or core maximum, following template pattern, blueprints, sketches, or sample part, using measuring and marking instruments
·Set-up and operate curing ovens to meet defined objectives as needed
·Cure product either under heat lamps or in oven, hooking appropriate heat and cooling lines.
·Verify work using measuring equipment, height gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.
·Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
·Complete paperwork as needed to create part documentation
Requirements:
·Maintain effective housekeeping in the area of work and the shops, in general
·Observe all safety rules and regulations
·Demonstrate ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of individuals within and outside the company, to maximize equipment, manufacturing reliability, and productivity
·High attention to detail
·Some computer skills including electronic messaging
·Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and operating procedure manuals
·Represent Composite Approach, as a visible member of the team, in a professional manner that is in line with the standards and values of our company’s culture
·Willingness to learn, be flexible, and take on new tasks
·Assist in improving process, equipment dependability, and productivity
·Available normal business hours with occasional weekend work totaling 40 hours/week
Working Environment:
·Meet physical requirements including ability to: lift 50lbs, bend/stoop, twist, crouch/squat, kneel, crawl, walk on even and uneven surfaces, climb steps and ladders, work at heights, reach above and below shoulder, and able to grasp/squeeze objects
·This position generally involves standing for long periods of time and the use of hand-cutting materials. The environment is clean and temperature controlled. PPE provided
Compensation: DOE, $20-$25/hr.
