TITLE: Registered Dietitian DEPARTMENT: Health


CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess health and diet needs for diabetes patients and local community members.
  • Counsel patients on nutrition issues and health eating habits.
  • Perform initial and follow-up nutrition assessments, implement interventions and the personalized nutrition plan of care.
  • Review, analyze, and make recommendations to the Senior Program monthly menus.
  • Provides instruction and counsel to patients and/or significant others according to protocol and documents appropriately.
  • Promote better nutrition through public speaking and community outreach program.
  • Document patient progress in the electronic health record.
  • Assist with and prepare reports as required by the grant guidelines.
  • Keep up with the latest nutritional science research.
  • Abide by confidentiality guidelines as required by professional standards.
  • Participate in committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a Registered Dietitian (RD) and/or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) License in the State of Iowa.
  • Prefer knowledge of diabetes.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Meskwaki community members and be sensitive to tribal beliefs and traditions.
  • Must be familiar with HIPAA policies and compliance.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication.
  • Must submit to and successfully complete background investigation.

SUPERVISION:

  • Supervised by the Diabetes Program Coordinator

SALARY LEVEL:

  • Annual Starting Salary: $49,732 - $67,142

Applicants will be required to submit to a background check and to a pre-employment drug test.
