The Surgical Services department at San Luis Valley Health is seeking a Part-Time Unit Secretary/ Stock Clerk. This split position will perform secretarial work, transcribes dictation of confidential nature, assists patients, use proper phone etiquette, prepare all necessary paperwork for ongoing surgery schedule, and keep flow of front office running in an organized manner. Provides clerical support for the dispensation of materials to Peri-operative Services, through daily manual and electronic purchase requisitions for supplies.

What You'll Need:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CPR certification
  • Computer skills and data entry
  • One year of experience of any previous equipment purchasing or Perioperative experience preferred
  • General office experience using computer, printer, telephone, copy and FAX machines
  • Ability to problem solve


What You'll Do:

  1. Greets patients/visitors in a courteous, welcoming manner.
  2. Responsible to ensure patient understands and signs all required forms as it pertains to the patient’s admission.
  3. Provides exceptional service to visitors, patients and staff in need of information and medical services.
  4. Accurate entry of all required information into the hospital system.
  5. Coordination with referring physician offices as it pertains to the registration requirements.
  6. Works closely with the authorizations team to ensure ESIs are approved
  7. Timely scheduling of ESIs
  8. Maintains confidentiality and promotes the organizations mission and values
  9. Assists physicians, and other surgery team members with provision of information and supplies.
  10. Assists the peri-operative materials management coordinator with daily duties
  11. Completes daily order for stock/non stock items throughout the surgery department.
  12. Responsible for the daily delivery of items to all areas and management of PAR levels with monitoring of expiration dates.
  13. Assist in coordinating in-services for equipment and instruments to assure proper training and use.
  14. Monitoring of equipment and instruments to coordinate routine maintenance.
  15. Ability to work with vendors to assure best pricing on equipment and supplies
  16. Maintenance of visitors to assure vendors have prior approval to be in the OR suite.
