Position Description: Better Tomorrows is a mission-focused not for profit organization. We are working to alleviate poverty by providing programs, supportive services, and case management to over 26,000 residents of affordable housing in more than 100 communities across the nation and in Hawaii and the Virgin Islands.
We are searching for an experienced Social Services professional and reliable individual to facilitate services that will positively enhance the quality of life for affordable housing residents and neighboring community members, an environment which promotes cultural appreciation and a commitment to diversity, resident involvement to enhance a safe and positive living environment including the coordination of activities and services that will prevent and reduce vandalism, crime and illegal activity within the complex and surrounding community.
To implement programs and services aimed at promoting Better Tomorrows five - core focus areas: Health, Wellness and Nutrition; Academic Support, Financial Literacy, Job Readiness, and Social and Community Engagement.
Duties:
\tFacilitate/implement the following programs, activities and social services for children and adults utilizing community resources and agencies:
o\tOut-of-School Time, GED Preparation, and other resident education programs focused on educational achievement and engagement
o\tJob Readiness programs, food banks, and financial literacy to promote economic stability and self-sufficiency
o\tHealth and wellness programs and seminars to promote physical and mental health and general well-being
o\tNeighborhood watch and community-wide events focused on developing safe and strong communities
o\tAdditional programs and services based on community needs
\tFacilitate educational programs for children and adults utilizing community resources and agencies- including planning and teaching curriculum.
\tCreate service goals and plans with residents and support residents to achieve those goals while monitoring progress.
\tDevelop and utilize resource files for making referrals for residents in need of specific services. To provide follow-up when referrals are made.
\tDaily use of data system to track case management progress, demographic information, and program outcomes.
\tPublish monthly community newsletter and calendar.
\tProvide technical assistance to resident associations.
\tLimited fund development to supplement programs though grants, donations and partnerships.
\tProvide great customer service to partner property management company including assisting with helping residents comply with lease requirements.
\tEngage volunteers and community partners.
\tProficiency in Microsoft office suite and other computer software database programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
\tMinimum three (3) to five (5) years work experience in Social Service Delivery
\tBachelors degree in Social Work, Education or related field is preferred\tExcellent verbal, written, and inter-personal skills
\tOrganized, reliable and flexible
\tPrior knowledge of affordable housing and area social service resources
\tKnowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps and other software programs
\tAbility to work a flexible schedule 9 am 5 pm, occasional evenings or weekends
\tAbility to safely lift 25 pounds
