Salary Range: $102,000-$165,000


At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary


The Manager - Fintech Services is a role within our Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) line of business, reporting directly to the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) and with an indirect reporting line to the Director of BaaS. This role is responsible for overseeing the first line of defense implementation and ongoing monitoring for the bank's Fintech sponsorships and third-party BaaS programs, ensuring alignment with our bank's strategic goals and compliance with regulatory standards. This position is a leadership role, leading a delivery and oversight team to innovate and build new and existing first line of defense methodologies for Bank Operations, Risk, Compliance and Fraud Management of our third-party partners.

Primary Accountabilities

People

  • Manages a team of professionals in a customer-centric culture to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Coaches, develops, and conducts performance management activities with direct and indirect reports.
  • Identifies high-potential employees for advanced training and development opportunities.
  • Effectively manages poor performers.

Strategic Planning and Compliance

  • Leads the strategic direction and operational execution of Fintech services within the BaaS framework, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Manages and coordinates across various functions including compliance, fraud management, and deposit operations, aligning with the bank’s strategic objectives.
  • Serves as a primary liaison between Fintech partners and the bank, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Develops and implements robust first-line defense strategies to mitigate operational risks associated with Fintech and BaaS initiatives.
  • Oversees compliance and fraud management processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Monitors and optimizes deposit operations related to BaaS, ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates closely with the Director of Banking-as-a-Service, Chief Risk Officer (CRO), and Chief Digital Officer (CDO) to integrate new technologies and innovative approaches that enhance our BaaS offerings.

Other

  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in IT and banking, with a strong background in digital solutions development, Fintech, and BaaS.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with demonstrated success coaching and motivating team members.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking regulations, especially related to Fintech, BaaS, compliance and fraud management.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to instruct others, interpret documents, and write reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and ability to drive innovation in banking services.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
