JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) works under the direction of the HMR Manager/RT Director and performs all duties required to support and coordinate departmental functions. The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) participates in the department’s goal of meeting the CCH mission, vision, and values. Works with direct patient care with home respiratory equipment which may include sleep therapy devices, tracheostomy and supplies, cough assist, suction equipment, etc. Responds to HMR Home Medical Resources requests for home ventilator patients, which may involve equipment troubleshooting, on-site home visit for non-invasive patient care. Provides troubleshooting for a wide variety of DME Durable Medical Equipment in the office and home environment to meet compliance as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinates the following company-established protocols and infection control processes.
  • Customer service/Education- Provides help to customers in the store, on deliveries and over the phone. These duties include but are not limited to receiving fax orders, completing intake and paperwork for billing, education on equipment and equipment setup.
  • Ensures all documentation is received prior to dispensing the equipment per insurance guidelines, complete patient documentation in current DME program, paper and/or electronically.
  • Deliver a thorough understanding of DME, insurance and financial responsibility of each piece of equipment at the time of delivery.
  • Equipment Management/Inventory Control- Conducts quality control monitoring of high-risk equipment in the home setting to assure proper function in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. Assures compliance with all regulatory agencies in the handling of hazardous materials.
  • Completes patient sleep therapy mask fittings and monitoring compliance.
  • Monitors patient’s response to therapy such as vital signs and reports to physicians.
  • Under physician direction, adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results based on test results. (i.e. PFT’s, ABG’s, Pulse Oximetry)
  • Employee must participate in group discussions, cross-training, required education and certificates.
  • Must adhere to ALL Standards of Excellence.
  • Quality/Service Management and Compliance- Exhibits behaviors that are consistent with the Mission, Philosophy and Values of Campbell County Health Home Medical Resources.
  • Monitors and manages all respiratory DME equipment.
  • Responds to after hour call back requests.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • Graduate of an AMA accredited Respiratory School; credentialed by NBRC or Co ARC
  • Licensure
    • Required Wyoming Respiratory Care Practitioner License
  • Experience
    • 1 to 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Certifications required
    • See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
    • ACLS/PALS/NRP optional.
