Project Manager

The Embedded Plant Engineer/Project Manager is an experienced project leader and is accountable for overall project implementation activities at the Client site. This person be responsible for executing plant level operational and maintenance projects that meet the Client objectives, while coordinating engineering activities with engineering office. The Embedded Plant Engineer/Project Manager is passionate, high energy, and results oriented with a creative and analytical mind. As an Embedded Plant Engineer/Project Manager, you are relied upon to build and maintain the client relationship at the site while acting as the primary client point of contact for projects. You are the focal point for the efforts required to execute projects over the project life cycle.

Responsibilities and Scope

  • Project Scope and Execution
  • Meet with the client to assess, define and clarify the requirements of operational and maintenance projects that will need to be executed at the plant level. This could include client team members from the management, engineering, operations, and/or maintenance teams.
  • Look for opportunities for added value through application of Value Improving Practices.
  • Coordinate activities with plant operations and maintenance to ensure that projects can be completed with minimal disruption to production schedule.
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • When necessary, coordinate engineering work with personnel at Client offices
  • Ensure compliance with all client policies, procedures, technical standards and preferences
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures and manage all project funds
  • Create and manage schedule and ensure that the project deliverables are on time; ensure quality assurance procedures are followed and completed throughout the execution of the project
  • Responsible for coordinating project requirements and scope to mechanical and electrical contractors as a an advocate for the client to ensure quality, cost, and schedule are met

Leadership and Communication

  • Lead, motivate, and coach cross-discipline project teams, ensuring positive team environment and facilitating conflict resolution
  • Establish and maintain team communication at both the client and home office
  • Schedule and facilitate all project team meetings and distribute accurate meeting minutes
  • Utilize standard forms and reports to document project activities and project status
  • Ensure that all project information is appropriately distributed, documented and saved
  • Evaluate the status of the project as compared to the planning phase and determine causes of any deviations; Communicate and reach agreement on any change order needs with the client
  • Represent and balance the client's and the organization's interests

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5 years+ of experience in project engineering/construction management with construction in the industrial or chemical industry preferred
  • 5 years+ of chemical industry experience highly preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong competencies in planning, project management, leadership, and organization
  • Ability to produce and present clear, concise, and professionally written communications and presentations.
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Ability to lead and facilitate multiple activities and resources
  • Demonstrated work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct
  • Competency in Microsoft Project and Excel preferred
