Job Title: Mechanic – Mobile
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Management
Overview:
This is a mobile position and will be using company equipment to perform repairs. This person will play a key role in the maintenance and repairs of our fleet of tanker trucks and trailers. We are looking for an individual who thrives on the challenge of a fast-paced environment, finds adapting to a moving target rewarding, and has a competitive edge. Preferred candidates will have at least three years of experience in fleet vehicle maintenance and diagnostic skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Main Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests.
- Diligently maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs while adhering to DOT inspection procedures.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance as scheduled.
- Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Keeps shop equipment operating and clean by following operating instructions and performing preventative maintenance as required.
- Assists in communication with service of equipment with outside shops and vendors when needed.
- Tracks inventory supplies by verifying orders as needed.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
- After hours road calls as needed.
Schedule:
· Full-time. Monday – Friday (7am – 4pm)
· Occasional nights, weekends and holidays may be required depending on company needs.
· Occasional after-hours on-call maintenance service calls.
· On-site at Victorville home terminal with frequent travel to other terminal(s) as needed.
· Local travel is approximately 40%.
· Company vehicle provided for company travel and road calls.
Skills and Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in diesel mechanics is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a focus on semi-trucks.
3. In-depth understanding of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical components.
4. Expertise in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
5. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
6. Proven ability to work independently and manage projects with little or no supervision.
7. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
8. Thorough knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
9. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including being on-call for emergencies.
Language Ability:
Ability to effectively communicate with management in English. Ability to interact with all levels of management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift more than 75 pounds and dual lift to 125 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to focus on a computer screen for extended periods of time.
