Job Posting End Date04-25-2024Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end dateJob Summary Position is responsible for the development of the Integrated Resource Plans for all AEP regulated operations.  This includes the development of AEP’s IRP strategy and alignment of integrated planning scenarios, resource valuation and economic analyses, and grid planning scenarios to meet AEP’s electric sector decarbonization and reliability objectives while maintaining a focus on customer affordability. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing and supporting to internal management and external stakeholders the most optimal generation resource portfolio for all AEP vertically integrated utilities.  This includes optimizing the timing of fossil plant retirements and the procurement of new resources that meet AEP’s long-term environmental, sustainability and financial objectives. This role will be an internal and external thought leader and critical interface among our technical modeling teams, regulatory teams, and operational business units. Job DescriptionESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Support policy, strategic and tactical planning of integrated resource planning on an AEP-consolidated basis while also ensuring each operating company’s needs are met and jurisdictional requirements satisfied.Manages the activities of a cross-departmental team of experts and analysts to make recommendations to senior management on planning and project strategies based on market, policy and business environment analyses.Assess the impact of external drivers and influences, including regional transmission organization (RTO) and legislative action at the state and federal level, on the company’s overall resource planning strategy.Perform on-going coordination of the resource planning activities of the AEP operating companies that encompasses varied internal functional groups.Support Request for Proposal (RFP) activities to ensure they are consistent with AEP’s needs and goals at the consolidated and state level.Oversee the development of management-requested studies for budgeting, regulatory and other purposes.Support the other Resource Planning groups as needed in the development of IRP plans, reports and develop and provide supporting information, including expert witness testimony, in support of immediate and longer-term, planning-related regulatory filings.Working with other parts of the organization, sustain state-of-the-art knowledge of supply-side resource technologies, including their attendant costs and performance parameters, for purpose of considering in IRP processes going-forward.Conveys complex and technical business issues to diverse audiences and project a highly credible, polished image in presentations and communications.Make strategic positioning recommendations to senior management and executives.Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, accounting or other applicable field. Higher levels of education (e.g., MS, MBA), additional relevant experience and or professional licenses (e.g., PE, CPA) all preferred. Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience in the utility industry in resource planning or other areas that directly relate to or significantly overlap with resource planning.  Experience as an expert witness in regulatory cases, and/or supporting testimony development preferred. Approximately 10% travel required. #LI-HYBRIDCompensation DataCompensation Grade:SP20-011Compensation Range:$152,707.00-198,520.00 USDHear about it first!   Get job alerts by email.  Log in to your Candidate Home Account today!  If you don't have an account, you can create one.  It is hereby reaffirmed that it is the policy of American Electric Power (AEP) to provide Equal Employment Opportunity in all aspects of the employer‐employee relationship including recruiting, hiring, upgrading and  promotion,  conditions  and  privileges  of  employment,  company  sponsored  training  programs, educational assistance,  social and  recreational  programs,  compensation,  benefits,  transfers,  discipline, layoffs and termination of employment to all employees and applicants without discrimination because of  race, color,  religion,  sex, age, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, veteran or military  status, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.
