Leading a small team of maintenance/janitorial personnel, the Maintenance Supervisor spearheads efforts to uphold equipment reliability, streamline maintenance processes, and foster a culture of excellence and safety within the maintenance department. The Maintenance Supervisor will focus on maintaining machinery, minimizing downtime, and optimizing productivity in our dynamic manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strive to minimize plant downtime by prioritizing equipment emergencies and maximizing factory productivity.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance management.
- Collaborate with production managers to prioritize maintenance needs and minimize disruptions to workflow.
- Direct and oversee all installations, set up, and repair of production equipment and machinery.
- Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program for building, grounds, machinery, and equipment with a focus on ongoing quality improvement.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate project work and corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Research, recommend, and order needed supplies and tools. Manage inventory for spare parts, tools, and supplies required for maintenance activities.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
- Negotiate subcontracts and necessary purchases, i.e., landscaping, cleaning, and snow removal for the building and grounds.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Participate in regular safety meetings.
- Perform housekeeping audits and ensure standards are met.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff on best practices, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Associates Degree or equivalent from a technical 2-year school in engineering or skilled trade; or equivalent industry experience.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience required; Supervisory maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong employee relations and verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Experience repairing and troubleshooting robots/automation.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to obtain a forklift license.
