Job Class: Exempt / Reports To: General Manager


POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees the overall revenues of the entire property, by supervising all revenue-producing areas. Develops and executes the property Sales and Marketing plan, and is responsible for directing, coordinating, training, and supervising staff in all sales-related activities, including direct sales efforts, follow-up, and proper sales administration. He/she is also responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that rooms revenue and catering revenue meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits and to improve the hotel's performance in the marketplace.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: NOTE: Legacy Development & Management may unilaterally may change the requirements of this job description at any time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop new business through contacting business customers in all market segments.
  • Develop/implement sales programs to solicit business within the existing geographical market.
  • Works with General Manager, Sales, and Operations Teams, to execute yield management and revenue management strategies to maximize revenues, profitability, and utilization of the property.
  • Produce sales and marketing plans and manages Rooms, Catering, Food & Beverage streams.
  • Develop competition survey to measure market share and changes with the competition.
  • Identify, qualify, and solicit perspective accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through outside sales calls, telephone solicitation calls, develop presentations for companies and travel booking center facilities, coordinate and conduct site inspections, etc.
  • Develops and executes Sales and Marketing budget and works with General Manager, Controller, and Operating Managers to develop revenue information for other departmental budgets.
  • Works with General Manager, Revenue Manager, and Front Office Manager on property systems.
  • Maintains accurate records of sales activities and results, and analyzes period-end results.
  • Participates in the yield and revenue merchandising process.
  • Be able to think creatively and independently establish and maintain an active digital marketing plan to include; social media sights, websites, e-blasts, and advertising and promotions.
  • Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.
  • Manages, motivates, coaches, and counsels the Sales team in presentation skills, account development, and strategy, needs assessment, relationship selling, and closing deals.
  • Manages property marketing efforts including advertising productions, public relations, social media, electronic marketing, scheduling, and placement; collateral materials production; and maintains community relationships such as area Conventions and Visitor's Bureau.
  • Represent the hotel when necessary to local communities through affiliation with professional business organizations, attend major trade shows, community events, etc.
  • Be proactive in booking repeat business and account saturation from existing clients.
  • Book business with the greatest profit percentage for the hotel while meeting client needs and expectations.
  • Through knowledge of sales techniques, negotiations, qualifying needs, overcoming objections, and closing sales.
  • Generate own proposals and contracts with clear and concise details.
  • Serves as a liaison with Senior Vice President, Marketing on corporate initiatives related to Sales and Marketing.
  • Be able to present yourself in a professional manner both with hotel colleagues, outside vendors, and in the community representing Legacy Development & Management with a positive winning attitude.
  • Perform job functions in a positive and independent manner requiring minimal supervision.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (includes education, skills, and experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience related to the essential functions.
  • Must be Computer literate, including all industry-related systems, POS, PMS, Interfaces, Network Administration, Sales & Catering, Accounting Back Office, and all Microsoft Office software
  • Must be able to manage people, including giving directions and delegating responsibilities.
  • Advanced experience in best hotel sales practices, negotiating, and closing skills.
  • Proficient in working with social media sites to enhance sales and marketing efforts.
  • Must possess outstanding customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work efficiently within a team environment.
  • Must have an open mind and willingness to learn new processes, concepts, and ways of approaching guests and coworkers.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, verbally interacts with management, servers, team members, and guests.
  • Must be able to communicate in English with guests, management, and other employees to their understanding. Additional language skills a plus.
  • Must be able to work variable hours including evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Must have a good driving record, valid, driver's license, vehicle insurance, and a reliable vehicle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6 (six) years of progressive hotel sales experience.
  • Experience in proposal/presentation/marketing material development at a marketing agency or media company.
