Monroe Tractor is a well-known and respected construction equipment and agricultural equipment dealer with over 70 years of experience servicing the northeastern US. Reporting to, and working closely with the Controller, this position is responsible for many aspects of the month-end closing process, including reconciling key accounts, reviewing draft financial statements, creating financial reports, and preparing sales tax and other filings to comply with governmental regulations. This is a fully on-site position at our Corporate Office located in Henrietta, NY.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analysis, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, payroll compliance, and tax requirements including sales tax.
  • Reconcile key accounts during the month-end close process, researching problems creating differences and determining if process improvements can prevent future issues. 
  • Become an expert on Monroe Tractor policies and procedures, coaching the accounting staff and operations personnel on the processes as needed, and recommending ways to improve processes and procedures.
  • Critically review trial balances to isolate and correct problems prior to closing.
  • Facilitate audits by providing timely and accurate documentation to auditors.
  • Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Cross train all functions in the accounting department to aid the controller with balancing workloads and covering absences.
  • Assist in calculating and posting month- and year-end closing entries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in accounting and tax, some public accounting experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of Management experience required.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced and changing environment.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 plus eligible for annual & quarterly incentive bonus plans.
