Johnny B Transport is a subsidiary of Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. and is the trucking division. Johnny B transport hauls asphalt for Idaho Asphalt Supply and their other affiliated companies. Idaho Asphalt Supply is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager 1 to join our team within the Transportation division.

Position Overview:
Reporting to the General Manager (GM) of Transportation, the Fleet Maintenance Manager 1 is a highly skilled individual who evaluates, schedules, and repairs fleet assets. This position is responsible for documenting maintenance operations including routine and emergency maintenance. The Fleet Maintenance Manager 1 will supervise the Idaho Falls shop team and be responsible for their overall training and understanding. They will coordinate multiple projects and oversee the maintenance and audit procedures. The Fleet Maintenance Manager 1 must be detail oriented, with a strong understanding of shop and maintenance best practices. This position must thrive in an environment that is mission-driven, results-driven and community oriented. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Fleet Maintenance Manager 1 must have the ability to work independently on projects as well as in a team environment, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and projects. This position will be based in the Idaho Falls, Idaho office.

Position Responsibilities:

·        Coordinate, schedule, and audit vehicle maintenance repairs to include preventative, mechanical and electrical repair to tractors, trucks, and trailers.

·        Prioritize and assign work to meet customers’ needs.

·        Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of company’s assets.

·        Control repair, inventory, and labor costs.

·        Coach, supervise, and mentor shop employees.

·        Implement and monitor preventative maintenance program for all company vehicles to ensure vehicles operate safely and perform according to vehicle manufacturers’ recommendations and specifications.

o   Manage repairs, record all expenditures, and maintain inventory system and other related issues.

o   Contracts for repair services as necessary that are not performed in the maintenance shop.

o   Schedules service, inspection, and repairs.

·        Develop and implement mechanical training programs to provide technical skills.

·        Provide input to develop a fleet replacement plan and compliance with all air quality rules and regulations.

·        Develop budgets for Maintenance Department, review expenses for prior the prior year, and administer purchases for parts, tools, and equipment needed for maintaining and repairing vehicles.

·        Oversee housekeeping activities throughout the maintenance facility to ensure all set standards for safety and compliance are maintained.

·        Participate in quarterly shop safety meetings, conducts toolbox meetings, and briefings.

·        Manage facility to provide a clean, safe, and effective work environment for all employees, vendors, and contractors.

·        Proper handling and management of on-site generated waste to include, but not limited to proper packaging, labeling, storing, accumulation time, inspections, and manifesting.

·        Knowledge of facility Business Plan and site-specific contingency plan.

·        Investigate and evaluate damage to vehicles involved in accidents.

·        Other responsibilities and projects may develop or be assigned as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding/Metallurgical Engineering or related field. Education can be substituted with years of experience.
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of DTSC and DOT regulations pertaining to Hazardous Waste preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic math and data analytics skills.
  • 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Highly resourceful; can solve problems independently and create useful and unique solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

·        Possession of a valid driver license issued by the State of Idaho, preferably Class A, with hazardous materials, doubles and triples, and tank endorsement.

·        Initial 40- hour HAZWOPER training followed each year by an annual 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher.

Physical Requirements:

·        The ability to hear to converse on a radio, telephone and in person.

·        The ability to operate hand and power tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment.

·        Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort, typically involving combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (25-50 pounds).

·        Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, smoke, toxic agents/chemicals, temperature and noise extremes and machinery.

·        Ability to work in adverse conditions, which includes working inside, outside, or underground, depending on the equipment, materials, and techniques needed for the job.

·        Physical endurance and manual dexterity.

·        Steady hands and strong grip for holding equipment and materials.

·        Some overnight travel may be required.
